– A Bold Display of Innovation, Heritage, and Global Connection –
Turkish Airlines, the carrier that connects South Africans to more global destinations than any other, has made a landmark appearance at Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai with the Asia-Pacific debut of its cutting-edge Crystal Business Class Suite—an innovation that sets a new benchmark for premium air travel—and a spectacular cultural gala, Connect to Türkiye, celebrating its longstanding friendship with Japan.
As South Africans increasingly explore international travel through global hubs like Istanbul, Turkish Airlines continues to elevate the flying experience. The new Crystal Business Class Suite, on display at the Türkiye Pavilion until July 2025, blends high design, advanced technology, and exceptional privacy—marking the future of long-haul travel comfort.

To complement the debut, Turkish Airlines hosted the Connect to Türkiye gala at Osaka’s Hotel New Otani, attended by dignitaries including Türkiye’s Minister of Trade and Turkish Airlines’ Chairman Prof. Ahmet Bolat. The evening premiered “Kushimoto”, a powerful and beautifully shot documentary produced by Turkish Airlines. It traces more than a century of Türkiye–Japan relations through moving personal stories, shared traditions, and historical insight—offering a poignant reminder of the power of cultural connection, something South African audiences deeply appreciate.
A symbolic pairing of Japanese green tea and Turkish baklava, along with interactive cultural experiences and a refined gala dinner, showcased the airline’s signature blend of heritage and hospitality.
“Participating at Expo 2025 aligns with our mission to build meaningful bridges between cultures through travel, heritage, and connection,” said Prof. Ahmet Bolat, Turkish Airlines Chairman of the Board and Executive Committee. “The screening of ‘Kushimoto’ reflects the deep and enduring bond between Türkiye and Japan—something we’re proud to share on the world stage.”
This celebration of connection, innovation, and cultural exchange underscores Turkish Airlines’ continued investment in elevating the travel experience for all passengers, including the growing base of South African travellers choosing the airline for both business and leisure journeys.
