The Metro FM deejay, DJ Sbu whose real name is Sibusiso Leope, with Thandiswa Mazwaia and Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, received the accolades during the Vukani Annual Fashion Awards in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
According to Sonwabile Ndamase, the founder of the Vukani Annual Fashion Awards, the African Pride Award is given to someone who epitomises African excellence, whether it is a way the person dresses, or in a particular field.
The recipients of the award should have a local and international influence on the public, and be role models to the youth.
Thandiswa Mazwaia is a multi-award winning South African musician, and is also the lead vocalist and songwriter of Bongo Maffin.
