Worlds Iconic put together an operations team to build and facilitate this “exploration“ into new realms for OCR Events. Among this small team is Travis Hesom, a resident of Mooi River, KZN and an employee of Treverton College. He made the 30 hour trip in to the frozen continent through Punto Arenas, Chile. Antarctic Logistics and Expeditions (ALE), who is the logistics partner for the event is the most experienced operator in this area and have over the years supported countless pioneers in their own rights.

The route for this iconic Obstacle Course Race will utilise the snow tracks around Union Glacier Camp in the shadow of Mount Rosso and comprises of 10km in total and 10 obstacles the athletes must negotiate. These include a multi-rig with monkey bars and later on, rings, balance beams, off-set steps, island jumps, cargo net and true to the environment, a sled pull, ice carry and soft snow section.

The event will wait for the best weather window between the 9th and 12th of December and will see athletes line up from the USA, UK and Switzerland.

Treverton College is no stranger to Antarctica. In 2023 Kai Broom the Treverton head boy was one of 12 students chosen for the Matrics in Antarctica expedition.
