“Everlasting Taker” is the first taste of what fans can expect from his forthcoming album “No Excuses”, a project set to make a statement and also showcase Blaqbonez’s growth, versatility and fearless artistry.

ABOUT BLAQBONEZ 

Blaqbonez a.k.a Akumefule Chukwuemeka George is a Nigerian rapper and singer-songwriter signed to Chocolate City Music who is popular for his versatile, energetic and competitive style of rap, as well as his many personas.

He started rapping at the early age of 13, despite his parents disapproval, and dropped his first project “Hip Hop Is Blaq” years later, whileattending Obafemi Awolowo University. He started gaining popularity as an undergraduate of the university, fiercely active on social media and within the University’s students community.

Early in his career, he frequented Nigeria’s battle rap scene, going undefeated and gaining notoriety as a fiery, no-holds barred competitor, before winning Terry The Rapman’s Zombie competition, as well as the Henessey VS Class in 2015. Blaqbonez sowed seeds early in the minds of music lovers, who also loved him for his comical side.

In 2019, his popularity surged after he declared himself, BRIA (Best Rapper in Africa), with a number of strategic boasts and disses. He dominated mainstream Nigerian music conversations, creating arguably the biggest conversation around hip-hop in Nigeria since the release of the Martel Lamb cyphers in January 2019. He would once again attract widespread mainstream attention with the release of a second cypher in September 2019, in which, he shone brightly.

His debut album “Sex over Love” dropped April 30, 2021 and has garnered over 90m+ streams, with the lead single “Bling” taking up 35m of that till date. Other Key highlights on that project include: #1 Album in Nigeria on Apple for three consecutive weeks; #1 Song in Nigeria – Apple for one week; #2 Top 100 Songs – Deezer; #2 Top Played Song in Nigeria – Radio Monitor Charts; Debuted in the Billboard – Next Big Sound Charts with the lead single “Bling” . The Project was hyped as must listens by Burna Boy and WizKid, and was listed as one of the Top Album of 2021 by the Rolling Stones Magazine (see below). Songs from the Project – BBC and Shut Up were both placed in a Showtime Original Series, Flatbush Misdemeanors, which aired in June and July respectively.

He was nominated at Nigeria’s most prestigious awards, The Headies in two categories for Best New Music Video & Best Rap Album. Blaqbonez bagged the award for “Best Rap Album” for his sophomore project “Young Preacher” and went ahead to deliver an energetic performance at The Headies award held in Atlanta USA.

Blaqbonez was also nominated at the AFRIMMA awards for the “Best Male Rap” act and bagged another groundbreaking win to his name. This is a testament to his prowess as Africa’s biggest Hip-Hop act. He released his third studio album “Emeka Must shine” cementing his hiatus as one of Africa’s biggest pop stars

He released, “W For Wetego” featuring rapper Phyno & YoungJonn another up beat single that further emphasizes Blaqbonez versatility & ability to deliver club hits/ party anthems. Following the success of his last single Blaqbonez teamed up with Afrobeats star Kizz Daniel on another mid tempo single “Follow Her” a soul-filled sonic collaboration off the forthcoming “No Excuses” Album.
