Pretoria – President Jacob Zuma has spoken out about the criticism lodged against him over the R208m upgrade to his Nkandla homestead and has said his critics were “unfair” to label him as “corrupt”.

In an interview with the Sunday Independent, Zuma accused people of having short memories stating that at the time he built his home he was accused of having used “French” money.

He said that he built over 90% of Nkandla before there were any security issues and that he was still paying off a mortgage.

It is widely believed that the opposition is hoping to use the Nkandla saga to their advantage during the run up to election coming up 7th of May.
