Wings of Türkiye’ Unveiled: A Monumental Tribute to Aviation Heritage

Must read

“Wings of Türkiye” is a remarkable masterpiece crafted by Turkish Airlines, the national flag carrier of Türkiye, in collaboration with sculptor Selçuk Yılmaz. This extraordinary work of art, meticulously created from metal aircraft parts, pays homage to the Curtiss King Bird D2, the first aircraft in the airline’s fleet when it began its journey in 1933.
Bridging the past and the future, the “Wings of Türkiye” is a testament to Turkish Airlines’ rich 91-year history. The reconstructed aircraft, which weighs approximately 4 tonnes, features a wingspan of 9 metres, a length of 6 metres, and a height of 2.4 metres. Each element of this sculpture is a piece of aviation history, repurposed to create a sustainable project that honours the legacy of Turkish civil aviation.
The story behind the “Wings of Türkiye” Project and its creation is captured in a film, which metaphorically depicts Turkish Airlines’ journey from its modest beginnings to its current global stature through this stunning artwork.
