A unique one-of-a-kind sculpture of Sir Winston Churchill made of solid silver and weighing almost 10 pounds, standing just ten inches tall, depicts the wartime Prime Minister at the height of his powers. This fascinating work is for sale with leading furniture and collectables auction house, The Pedestal, on October 16th and is estimated to sell for £2,000 to £3,000.

This extremely heavy cast silver statuette of Prime Minister Winston Churchill is modelled by Richard Price, a prize-winning exhibitor at Goldsmiths Hall, and manufactured by Da-mar Silverware, London in 1977.

It was bought by the vendor’s father in January, 1978 from G. H. Presley & Sons, Jewellers, of Worthing and stated to be the only one made with the special Queen’s Silver Jubilee hallmark in a letter of February, 1978 to the vendor’s father from David Shaw Silverware Ltd. of Clerkenwell Road, London.

Guy Savill of The Pedestal comments: “Once in a while one comes across something truly unique, and this is one of them. One of Britain’s greatest heroes beautifully crafted in solid silver, it is a work of art that will be a conversation piece and a cause of fascination.”

It is believed that the image is taken by the artist from the years of the Second World War, and Churchill is said to be standing on the hills of Dover looking out across the Channel towards occupied Europe.

Depicted in Homburg hat, pinstripe three-button, single-breasted suit and bow tie, one hand in pocket, the other holding a cane, on simulated rocky base, 25 cm. high, approx. 152 oz. (approx. 4712 gm.).

The sale includes a range of collectable items: furniture, silver, handbags and many other artworks and furnishings.
