UMG South Africa Celebrates a Big Night of Wins at the Metro FM Music Awards 2025

UMG South Africa is proud to announce and celebrate all their spectacular artists’ major wins at this year’s Metro FM Music Awards 2025. An unforgettable night in celebration of South Africa’s diverse musical talent where UMG artists brought home 9 incredible awards! This year’s winners proved why they are leading voices in their respective genres. Jazz visionary Linda Sikhakhane opened the evening of wins as he walked away with Best Jazz Album, a nod to his deeply innovative and soul-stirring work that continues to push the boundaries of Jazz. Gqom heavyweight Mr Thela took home Best Gqom/Kwaito Song for Ekhaya, a track that resonated powerfully with fans across the country. SKHANDAWORLD proved that local hip hop is alive and thriving, winning Best Hip Hop Song for Too MuchChronical Deep won Best Dance Song for Hayi Baba, his first ever Metro FM MusicAward, a stellar way to reaffirm his place in the dance music scene.

Xolly also delivered an emotional tribute in remembrance of those we’ve lost and who contributed immensely to the entertainment industry. Their legacy continues to live on through their work. The legendary Dr Rebecca Malope was honoured with the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Her breathtaking performance received a standing ovation as she reminded the nation why she remains an icon of South African music.   WOODBLOCK DJS lit up the night with their hit Skuta Baba Remix, securing Song of the Year and Best Viral Challenge.
