Durban, October 2025 – The spirit of competition and mentorship was on full display at the 2025 iKas’La Makasi High School Soccer Tournament, held recently at Danville Park in Durban. After a thrilling day of matches, Mzuvele High lifted the trophy, edging out KwaShaka High in a tightly contested final.

Organised by Prosport International and sponsored by Trellidor, in partnership with the Siyabonga Bhele Nomvethe Foundation, the tournament brought together eight high schools from Umlazi, Inanda, KwaMashu and greater Durban. The action-packed format gave these young players the chance to test their skills, while also providing them with training sessions with South African soccer legend, Siyabonga Nomvethe. The event attracted the attention of professional soccer scouts, creating an invaluable platform for players to showcase their abilities and pursue future opportunities.
Beyond the competition, the event highlighted the power of sport in uplifting communities. For Trellidor, supporting the tournament reflects its broader commitment to building safer, stronger futures for South Africa’s youth.
This initiative also represents a natural progression of Trellidor’s partnership with the Siyabonga Bhele Nomvethe Foundation. Together, the two organisations have already hosted two successful tournaments, the first one hosted in March this year at Nike Shapa Soweto and now, just six months later, a second in Durban. Through this growing collaboration, opportunities have been created for 22 schools across Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal to participate in tournaments and clinics, with the long-term goal of expanding more broadly on a national scale.
Damian Judge, Sales and Marketing Executive at Trellidor said, “Sport has the ability to change lives, and this tournament showed just how much passion and potential exists among Durban’s young soccer athletes. At Trellidor, we believe that safety is not only about the barriers we build, but also about creating opportunities for young people to thrive. Through our sponsorship of the iKas’La Makasi High School Soccer Tournament, we are proud to have played a role in empowering young players.”
“In the heart of the Trellidor iKas’La Makasi Cup, I saw the true spirit of football not just in the competition, but in the community, it built and the dreams it ignited in every child. Its success is not measured by the size of the crowd, but by the passion displayed and the future stars who began their journey here. You have all created something truly special,” added Siyabonga Nomvethe.
