SoftwareOne strengthens position in South Africa and the continent with new key appointment

Leading global software and cloud solutions provider, SoftwareOne, has announced the appointment of Makhosini Dlamini as Business Development Executive for South Africa and Africa, underscoring its commitment to being the top trusted expert in software and cloud solutions in the region.

With over 16 years in ICT, Dlamini boasts an impressive track record, including 11 years at Microsoft where he held several positions with involvement in significant projects such as UNISA’s migration to Microsoft AD/Exchange and the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation’s adoption of the AD/Exchange platform. His journey with Microsoft further involved roles as Service Delivery Manager, Account Technology Strategist, and an accomplished tenure as an Account Executive. Moreover, Dlamini enriched his experience with Oracle, managing sales in several SADC countries, before joining SoftwareOne from Vodacom, where he focused on Microsoft cloud sales.

Dlamini says he looks forward to engaging with SoftwareOne customers and guiding their strategies. “At SoftwareOne, our expertise is seamlessly integrating IT solutions with our customers’ business goals. Our approach begins by delving into their core business objectives and challenges, allowing us to tailor technology to facilitate their growth. It’s not merely about technology; it’s about understanding and resonating with the intricacies of each business. Engaging in these dialogues, where we position ICT as a catalyst for business success, is truly exciting.”

He adds that while the post-pandemic business environment has accelerated digital transformation and cloud conversations, the cost and complexity of migrating to the cloud present obstacles for many organisations on the continent. “Many customers understand the need to migrate to the cloud but face budget constraints due to economic factors. Migrating to the cloud is a complex and resource-intensive project, requiring the rebuilding of workloads and applications. Overcoming these challenges is where SoftwareOne excels, as we provide guidance and assistance to our customers throughout their cloud journey.”

Given persistent global economic constraints, Dlamini says it’s more important than ever for organisations to unlock the value of technology. “One of our primary value propositions when collaborating with customers is a comprehensive assessment of their software assets. Through this, we frequently identify cost-saving opportunities by refining their licensing arrangements. These realised savings empower our customers to redirect funds toward cloud migration and technological innovation. Of course, another important trend is the adoption of AI. As in all areas of technology, our approach emphasises a deep understanding of our customers’ businesses and aligning technology with their strategic goals. And it’s this customer-centric approach that sets SoftwareOne apart.”

In his role at SoftwareOne, Dlamini is supported by Marilyn Moodley, Country Leader and Local Director for South Africa and Africa, SoftwareOne’s adept sales team comprising Kyasha Wardman, Thiren Reddy, Calvin Kodisang and Navi Pillay, as well as by local partners in country. The team will further enhance its already excellent product and service support and delivery in key areas including Microsoft, Oracle, SoftwareOne’s Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) program, its end-to-end Software Asset Management service, SAMSimple, and more.

Commenting on Dlamini’s appointment, Moodley, says there is so much potential for organisations in South Africa and the rest of the continent to use technology to grow and create meaningful impact in the markets in which they operate, a potential that Dlamini understands on a granular level. “With a commendable track record, I am confident that Dlamini will play a pivotal role in propelling SoftwareOne to new heights and ensuring that we continue to innovate, evolve, and exceed the expectations of our customers.”
