Two words best described the opening ceremony of the Rugby World Cup: brief and Spectacular.

The Rugby 2015 World Cup got under way on Friday in a blaze of fireworks and fierce tackles, with cameo appearances from the likes of Martin Johnson, singer Laura Wright and Prince Harry giving the spectacle the royal seal of approval.

During a blockbuster opening ceremony, the 106-year-old Twickenham Stadium reverberated with deafening noise before host nation England delighted the 80,000-strong crowd with a hard-fought 35-11 win over Fiji in the tournament’s opening match.

Japan demolish South Africa in greatest Rugby World Cup shock ever

Bafana Bafana obviously shared their “winning tactics” with the Springboks ahead of their World Cup opener. Japan stunned South Africa 34-32 in their World Cup Pool B match at Brighton.Karne Hesketh scored a last-gasp try.
