(Johannesburg, South Africa – October 2025) – Rising pop artist Matthew Charles rounds off his debut EP, What’s On Your Mind, with his latest single, Dirty Boots – an upbeat country-pop track that captures a moment of shedding the past and stepping into a truer version of yourself. “This single is about being more of your raw and authentic self,” Matthew shares. “It’s about leaving all the bad things behind in the past and embracing who you really are – especially when it comes to your special person.”
Co-written with long-time collaborator Helena Bowie, Dirty Boots was born in the comfort of Matthew’s bedroom, starting with a simple guitar melody before evolving into a full-bodied, infectious anthem. Produced by Matthew May and Bowie, the song strikes the perfect balance between heartfelt intimacy and bright, uplifting energy.
Matthew has spent most of 2025 consistently releasing singles leading up to the release of his debut EP. “This whole EP has been such a fun journey,” Matthew shares. “Everything’s been doing so well, and I’m super proud of the music I’ve put out this year.” If you think Matthew is slowing down after this, think again. “There are already two more EPs in the works for next year. I can’t wait to play some shows and share what’s next.”
