Adelani Ogunrinade (jnr.) has been the face of an array of prominent TV stations in Africa. An infectious sense of humor and an amiable onscreen persona has made the Sports and entertainment writer a well-loved TV personality. The British born Nigerian media practitioner has covered prestigious football festivals like the 2018 World Cup in Russia as well as several African Nations Cup tournaments

Our Team of the day award deservedly goes to England.

Is it finally coming home?

Since winning the 1966 edition of the FIFA World Cup, England has produced several golden generations that have flattered to deceive.

On Match day 2, the Three Lions maliciously mauled Iran to pieces in a 6-2 win that sent a chilling message to their rivals and left their fans dreaming of World Cup glory again.

21 year-old Bukayo Saka certainly made his Nigerian parents proud when he became the youngest player to score a brace in a World Cup game for England but the biggest statement came from Iran; they remained silent during the national anthem in response to the current human rights violations protests in their country.

England now majestically sit at the top of Group B after the pulsating war that saw Wales and the United States play to a 1-1 draw.

Where is Sadio Mane when you need him?

In another Enthralling encounter, The Lions of Taranga appeared toothless without Sadio Mane. The Bayern Munich forward was sorely missed as two late goals from PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo and substitute Davy Klaassen ensured that the Dutch avoided the embarrassing fate of France in Korea/Japan 2002. The result leaves the Champions of Africa rooted to the bottom of Group A with Qatar. Much Like Jürgen Klopp in the first few games of the new English premier league season, Alou Cisse is left scratching his head, urgently trying to figure out life in front of goal without Sadio Mane.
