Postponed - Johannesburg International Comedy Festival 2020

Johannesburg International Comedy Festival 2020 Postponed Due To Covid-19 Global Pandemic And National State Of Disaster Declared In South Africa.

Africa’s favourite annual celebration of comedy, Johannesburg International Comedy Festival (JICF), has been postponed due to the international outbreak and global spread of the COVID-19. The festival was set to take place at Joburg Theatre from 15-18 April.

This announcement also follows the fact that President Cyril Ramaphosa declared South Africa as a National State of Disaster recently – which also restricts international and domestic travels over the next 30 days.

In the best interest of our ticket holders and fans of this international feast of comedy the JICF board and its partners, have decided to postpone this festival until further notice.

In light of the President’s recent address, we’ve had to make the difficult but yet most sensible decision to postpone the Festival to a later date. Bigger than comedy, our primary concern is the health and welfare of our artists, staff and audiences. With that said, we now join the rest of the country in combatting the spread of COVID-19. We thank everyone that’s supported us thus far and look forward to putting together a great Festival in the not so distant future.” says Takunda Bimha, Founder and Director for JICF.

Further information and new festival dates will be made available to the public in due course. Despite the unexpected inconvenience, ticket holders can retain their tickets for future dates. Alternatively for refunds please contact www.webtickets.co.za ,www.joburgtheatre.com or by calling 0861 670 670.

The JICF board, together with its sponsors and partners, are committed to ensuring a world-class celebration of comedy for all role-players involved and fans can expect a jam-packed comedy experience showcasing an array of international, continental and local comedy stars at a later stage.
