M-22 AND ELLA HENDERSON RELEASE NEW SINGLE ‘HEARTSTRINGS’

THE RETURN OF THE BRITISH/GERMAN DUO IS A STRINGS-LADEN DANCE POP SMASH

SINGLE AND OFFICIAL VIDEO BOTH OUT NOW VIA EMI RECORDS

9th September 2022: Platinum-selling British/German duo M-22 have returned with a new single ‘Heartstrings’ with chart-topping vocal powerhouse Ella Henderson. The track is out now on EMI Records.

Featuring M-22’s trademark combination of club–bound house beats and synths with a razor-sharp pop production including string section and a choir, the track is a perfect setting for Henderson’s distinct, unforgettable vocals which build to a huge chorus hook: “you keep playing on my heartstrings”.

The stunning new video for ‘Heartstrings’, also out today, sees Ella Henderson sing alongside a choir in a digitally-created cathedral, while Matt and Frank perform the track with violinists, surrounded by an arrangement of lasers. The video was directed by Ben Newbury.

‘Heartstrings’ was first written when M-22 and Ella met in Ibiza but progress on the track was halted during the pandemic. They completed the track as soon as they could and say now is a better time than ever to release the uplifting dance-pop song.

M-22 say:

“We absolutely love Ella. We’ve been friends for a long time now and have been sitting on this beauty ‘Heartstrings’ waiting for the perfect time to release it. And this is it. The song was written on the White Island of Ibiza and holds so many special & euphoric memories for us and Ella.”

And Ella Henderson says:

“I absolutely adore the M-22 lads, they are like family to me! Writing this song with them out in Ibiza is a memory I’ll never forget, we had so much fun! I think we truly captured the heart & essence of the island as we created a piece of music that felt euphoric, anthemic yet still so classic!”

About M-22:

M-22 are a platinum-selling British/German duo consisting of Matt James and Frank Sanders. They met each other on the 22nd March (hence their name) and began producing records and remixes together, as well as performing across the globe – particularly in Ibiza.

Their high-octane house has smashed charts around the world via tracks like First Time – a big hit for the duo, going platinum and hitting the UK’s Top 20 and over 150 million streams to date. They followed that with After Hours and Billboard Dance Chart Top 5 White Lies — songs as likely to dominate radio playlists as global dancefloors. Overall M-22 have seen over 370 million streams of their music to date. The warmth and expressiveness of the duo’s music has also proved irresistible to other artists, with Matt and Frank being drafted in on remix duties by a diverse array of artists, from Avicii, Marshmello, Axwell & Ingrosso and Sam Feldt to Katy Perry,

Anne-Marie, Little Mix and Clean Bandit.

‘Heartstrings’ is M-22’s first music of 2022. Last year, they released ‘Gravity’ – an uplifting, optimistic track with vocals courtesy of Irish rising vocalist Rhea Melvin. And before that came ‘Think About Us’ – a track which gained the praise of tastemaker music and culture publication Notion Magazine, who commented that it “captures the soulful vibe of 90s house”, going on to say it “displays M–22’s ability to craft soulful pop music with their trademark distinctive electronic sound”.
