Following the success of the 2022 LG Ambassador Challenge social upliftment project, LG Electronics S.A. (Pty) Ltd is continuing to support community-driven projects in 2023. In partnership with Friends of Hope, Korea Food for the Hungry International (KFHI), LG encouraged NPOs and community project leaders to enter their projects for consideration. Participants who want to make a real difference and drive positive change in their communities stood to receive project funding.

After much deliberation, a final beneficiary has been selected.  From over 150 entrants the community project selected is Unleashed Youth Life Coaches based in Eesterust, Pretoria.  This non-profit organisation will receive support to the value of R200,000 to help turn their ideas into fully fledged projects and enable community growth and sustainability.

Unleashed Youth Life Coaches has been established to equip and empower young people through leadership development and training by instilling core values and principles with practical skills.  The support that this NPO will receive as a part of the LG Ambassador Challenge includes funding to equip an IT lab that will focus on digital education to enable the youth in the community with computer literacy skills as well as other programmes including sports, art and music, which will further enhance the safe haven that supports the educational and recreational needs of the youth in the community.

“The inspiring response to this year’s call for entries highlighted a pressing need for community development in South Africa. It’s clear that at the heart of our communities are brilliant minds who, with the right support, can implement key innovations to build a healthy and sustainable future,” remarked Mr Jinkook Kang, president of LG South Africa.

Mr Kang concluded, “We’re so proud to announce the beneficiary of this program and believe that together we are sure to enrich the lives of South Africans.”

With the success of the programme, LG is showing no sign of backing down from their commitment to drive transformative social solutions.
