LEGKAART KICKS OFF THE YEAR WITH A BRAND-NEW SINGLE
In 2022, popular duo – Legkaart – has made quite the impression on local music lovers with the release of three successful radio hits.
It, therefore, comes as no surprise that they want to stay relevant by starting the year off with a brand-new single.
NUWE REISE is an upbeat pop-rock track written by frontman, Anrich Gericke.
“The song was inspired by memories of summer holidays with our friends when we were young. There was an old car that we often went on trips with after we learned to drive and some of the best times of our lives happened within the four doors of that car,” he shares about the single recorded, mixed and produced by Johnny De Ridder (Die Heuwels Fantasties and Fokofpolisiekar) and Loki Rothman.
According to the pair, their new release has an energetic vibe that will get fans excited about the new year.
They also feel that the universal message of friendship and togetherness will appeal to a broad audience and that the song will soon be a road-trip-favourite.
The music video was filmed on location at Gordon’s Bay, Stellenbosch and Durbanville by Gerduan Kemp from Gerduan Kemp Photo & Film, who was also the producer.
“Our video was created around the concept of a summer holiday along the coast in an old kombi and also includes performance shots and fireworks to capture the energy of the song,” they share.
NUWE REISE follows in the footsteps of Terug in Tyd (with more than 100 000 views on YouTube), Wentelbaan and Ek Is Daar.
Legkaart, consisting of Anrich Gericke en Werner van der Merwe, comes from Durbanville in the Western Cape. Because they believe that each member, chord and lyric are pieces of a bigger puzzle, they agreed that Legkaart would be the perfect name when starting out in 2020.
The duo met when they were members of their dorm’s serenade group, Hippokrates. They decided to join forces after things with their previous bands did not work out as planned.
NUWE REISE is an impressive song that is not only fun to listen to, but also has a valuable message that resonates with audiences of all ages.
