Type of bitch few people can handle & I walk like I know my pussy dangerous”. A match made in a global sounding contemporary pop heaven, ‘SAD GIRLS LUV MONEY’ (FEAT. KALI UCHIS) is the perfect blend of afro-pop with a Latin twist – further cementing Amaarae’s place as the world’s new favourite pop star amongst fans and fellow artists alike. Speaking on the single, Amaarae says: ’SAD GIRLZ LUV MONEY was already a magical song with Myself and Moliy but Kali takes it to a new dimension! I’m excited to have her on the remix, I’ve loved her music since I was 19 in College so to be able to work on this with her was amazing and she kills her verse! I think the Sad Girlz Worldwide are going to LOVE this!’ Kali adds: “I love this song so much and was honored when Ama asked me to be a part of this. She deserves all the success and blessings coming her way” Since the release of the original track’s lo-fi, high fashion Yinka Soda directed official video this Spring, Amaarae hasn’t stopped. In between studio sessions from LA to Nashville and Lagos working on her next record, she’s also featured on Tiwa Savage‘s ‘Tales By Moonlight‘. As the year draws to a close, Amaarae is finishing up her highly anticipated ‘THE CRAZY WURLD‘ tour. MOLIY) has catapulted Amaarae from a ‘one to watch’ to a global breakthrough artist. Streamed over 31.8M times, this genre blending project that saw her strive to colour outside of the afro-pop parameters and re-define for herself what it means to create African music has been recognised and praised across the board from The Guardian (Cover Star for 1st Jan 2021 G2 Film & Music issue)Pitchfork (Best New Music), The FACEHighsnobietyMixmagi-DElleThe Line Of Best FitDazedThe FADER, DJ Target, Sian Anderson and more. 2021 has seen her tipped as Apple Music’s Africa Rising Artist 2021 and BET Amplified International Artist of the Month for February 2021 as well as the Times Square Billboard Cover Star for her Spotify playlist takeover for Black History Month – ‘Black to the Future’. A 14-track first opusTAYDK is a sonic and visual testament to Amaarae’s love for music and art, and her capabilities as an artist featuring family and friends alike including Kojey Radical, Cruel SantinoOdunsi (The Engine), KZ, Princess Adjua, Moliy, Maesu and more. Sometimes sexy, sometimes anarchist, sometimes sad and other times playful, this experimental project that sees her push her personal boundaries both sonically and visually with faster tempos, ballsier lyrics and edgier textures and tones speaks volumes on the talent of an artist in their sonic prime. Where tracks like ‘D*A*N*G*E*R*O*U*S*’ and ‘CRAZY WURLD’ are pop-punk anthems, ‘3AM’ mixes Progressive HouseAfrobeats and Psychedelic Disco, the Kojey Radical and Santi assisted ‘JUMPING SHIP‘ is inspired by the Baile Funk and Garage records of the early 2000s and ‘HELLZ ANGEL’pays homage to and samples Hi-Posi’s Japanese Club Pop Hit “Bokude Haritai”. ‘SAD GIRLS LOVE MONEY’ is a killer Afro-Pop take on amapiano and ‘FANTASY’ is Amaarae’s Neo-Latin/R&B take on records like Product G&B’s “Cluck Cluck” or “Maria”. Bronx-born and raised between Accra in Ghana, AtlantaGeorgia and Hackettstown, New Jersey, Amaarae’s cross-cultural experience is the driving force behind her deeply experimental ethos. Embraced and endorsed by the exciting melting pot of exuberant creativity that is Nigeria’s Alté scene, Amaarae is all about female empowerment and puts her West African heritage and influences at the core of everything she does – whilst challenging the views on gender norms, female sexuality, artistic self expression and more. Fast becoming one of the world’s exciting artists garnering a cult following on the African continent and throughout the diaspora, Amaarae has played shows in LagosLondonLos Angeles and New York; and collaborated with the likes of Cruel Santino on ‘Rapid Fire‘, Stonebwoy on ‘Pepper Dem’ and Kojey Radical on his 2019 EP Cashmere Tears via the single ‘Sugar’. The release of her debut EP Passionfruit Summers in 2017 and following singles including the sexy alternative R&B jam ‘Like It‘, the groovy Afro-disco inspired ‘Spend Some Time ft Wande Coal‘ and a powerful feature on Odunsi‘s album cut ‘body count‘, began this journey of fearless self expression where TAYDK picks it up and refines it. A songwriter, singer, producer and engineer, Amaarae is DIY to the core. From selling mixtapes to her highschool classmates, to throwing herself into learning the ins and outs of the production and engineering process and founding her own independent record label – the Ghana based Golden Child Entertainment Ltd – Amaarae is a rare, authentic and inspiring talent. ‘SAD GIRLS LUV MONEY (FEAT KALI UCHIS)’ is out now – https://platoon.lnk.to/sad-girlz-luv-money-remix-feat-kali-uchis
