Johannesburg, 26 September 2025 | Jacaranda FM‘s annual Good Morning Angels Golf Day and 20-Year Celebration, held this past Friday at Irene Country Club, was a resounding success, raising a phenomenal R5,7 million to assist individuals and communities in need. The amount surpasses last year’s total by nearly R1 million, a reminder of the incredible generosity of the station’s listeners and sponsors.

Over 80 companies contributed to the day, which expanded this year to include a bowls tournament and a vibrant sponsor village. Sponsors and partners went above and beyond to make the event memorable and impactful. Spur provided a delicious burger lunch, while the evening’s dinner and prize-giving on the First Fairway, brought to life by JVR Events, was a celebration of community and giving. Special thanks were also extended to SAB for adding their flair to the event.

The evening was made even more special by the stellar performances of inspiring artists JP Dix, the legendary Claire Johnstone, and the incredibly generous Nadine, who spontaneously started a party on the dance floor. Their contributions set a festive and celebratory tone for the evening.

The main auction was a highlight of the night, raising a spectacular R1,565,000 for the Good Morning Angels Fund. Guest auctioneers Chris Morris and Adam Heys, along with the generous buyers, ensured the bidding was lively.

Raymond Marais from Container King paid R550,000 for a half-a-million-rand Jacaranda FM advertising campaign. Ross Volk from MSC Cruises purchased a second campaign for R500,000 and also bought access to the Titans Suite at SuperSport Park to any domestic T20/50-over match for R55,000. Additionally, Raul Lima from AutoMagic Centurion walked away with a TAG Heuer Watch and Max Verstappen F1 Racing suit for R250,000. The night golf activation, sponsored by Spar, also contributed to the total, raising R180,000. The winner of the amazing Smeg prize package was Neil Olivier from Komatsu.

Sponsor Competition Winners

In a special competition to honour their creativity and commitment, hole and bowls field sponsors competed for Jacaranda FM advertising airtime. The Total Risk Advisory sponsor village activation was named the winner of R50,000 in airtime for their innovative and generous contribution, which included adding club-cleaning brushes to golfer goody bags and donating R10,000 to the Good Morning Angels fund. Sabat Batteries came in third place, winning R50,000 in airtime, Promac Paints secured second place, winning R75,000 in airtime and King Price was crowned the winner, taking home an impressive R150,000 in airtime on Jacaranda FM.

“Every year, I am humbled by the generosity of our sponsors, partners, and listeners who come together for the Good Morning Angels Golf Day. This year’s record-breaking R5,7 million raised is nothing short of extraordinary,” says Martin Bester, host of Jacaranda FM’s ‘Breakfast With Martin Bester.’ “These funds will directly change countless lives on Good Morning Angels in the months ahead, bringing hope, dignity, and joy to South Africans who need it most. Every person who participated, sponsored a hole, or bid in the auction has played a role in giving a new beginning to someone in need. These funds will help us bring real hope and change to countless South Africans through Good Morning Angels in the year ahead. Good job, angels. Good job!”
