H&M SOUTH AFRICA DONATES R1 MILLION OF SUPPLIES TOWARDS RELIEF TO THE KWAZULU-NATAL FLOODS AND LANGA FIRES

H&M South Africa in partnership with SA Harvest has supplied clothing donations to offer relief to families that were heavily affected by the KwaZulu-Natal floods and the recent Langa fire outbreaks.

SA Harvest is a food rescue and hunger relief organisation that has delivered the equivalent of 20 million meals in 32 months by rescuing food that would otherwise have gone to waste. Since launching in August 2019, SA Harvest has built up strong infrastructure, logistical and technology capabilities.  The organisation gained invaluable expertise and networks through their relief efforts at the time of the riots, enabling them to respond immediately to the crisis.

“No one could have predicted the recent disasters that affected families in KwaZulu-Natal and Langa. Condolences to the families that lost their loved ones. Many families lost everything and are faced with the difficult task of having to rebuild and start over. Through our partnership with SA Harvest, we were able to identify some of the core needs of the families and we were able to step in and offer relief during these tough times. Community support is at the core of the H&M values, and we were fortunate to partner with SA Harvest to help make a difference,” says Caroline Nelson – H&M South Africa Country Manager.

CEO and founder of SA Harvest Alan Browde, says, “The compassion and generosity of companies like H&M in South Africa have been overwhelming. This donation of clothing for the men, women, and children of KZN and Langa will make a significant impact in the coming weeks and months as they fight to restore their homes and lives. We are humbled and grateful for this donation, particularly as winter starts to take hold.”

For those wishing to contribute towards the KwaZulu-Natal floods and Langa Fire relief efforts through SA Harvest, donations can be delivered to their warehouses in Joburg and Cape Town, or individual financial contributions can be made.
