ESPACIO DIOS RELEASES “THE SECOND KIND” MUSIC VIDEO FT OKMALUMKOOLKAT & NALELI

Following the Dolby Atmos release of The First Kind (which featured a collaboration with Maglera Doe Boy) in March, Espacio Dios has released the highly-anticipated music video The Second Kind featuring Qgi hitmaker OKMalumkoolkat and vocalist Naleli.

Written at the beautiful blue flag beaches in KZN’s north coast in South Africa, “The Second Kind” describes a time when even the elements seem to be against young lovers. The heavily drum-influenced track with occasional thunder strikes speak to the lyrics – “hurricane, kgwanyape e re agile,” meaning ‘the storm has built us’. Espacio says of the time “This experience was not a cause of distraction, it had purpose.”

The Second Kind is the second of four EPs to be released throughout the year. Now under new management, Espacio Dios’ The Second Kind was produced, written, and mixed by Espacio Dios and mastered by Shane the Cutter.

More about Espacio Dios

Espacio Dios made his debut in 2016 with Back Seat Galaxy, an EP that received much acclaim in the Alternative community. A year later a collaboration with Australian DJ & producer Kilter on “Treasure” debuted on the Billboard charts and was added at triple j.

After being named as one of 25 South African Rappers Under 25 Killing the Game by OkayAfrica, collaborations with US-based 2-time Grammy nominated Allan Kingdom, (featured on Kanye West’s All day) followed, as well as Espacio Dios’ 2018 EP Percussive Planet. “Uri Fire” from the EP gained syncs for “Luce” (film) and Netflix series “Queen of the South.” Another collaboration with Muzi on “Good Vibes Only” was featured in Radio Nova’s the best 30 songs of 2019 (France), reached #1 on South African national youth radio 5FM and was placed in multiple advertising synchs on South African national TV.

March 2020 saw the release of Espacio Dios’ second record Son of Uri, a 13-track album heavily influenced by diversity of language with Setswana, Swahili and Zulu culture. The record received wide acclaim, and a publishing signing to BMG UK followed.

Now Espacio Dios returns with his highly anticipated Cradle Of The Fourthkind project. The four EPs, set for release throughout 2023, describe the different stages of falling in love. From young love to old love, there is a process of negotiating, learning and trust. This journey of love is the core theme of the project.

Notoriously private, Espacio Dios has been crafting this conceptual and personal project for the last two years. In reference to the new direction, he says: “I was going for a mellow, more minimalistic feel with this album. This record is not as heavily drum influenced as my previous work. This is my take on what African R&B is, infused with my Motswako influences, traditional and electronic music.”
