Dr. Deon Weyers Raise The Bra Project

Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr Deon Weyers Aims To Uplift Women In His Community Through His New Initiative, “Raise The Bra”

Popular Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon, Dr. Deon Weyers cannot escape being constantly surrounded by women. From a large amount of female staff at his practice, DW Skin & Body, to the large portion of his patients being female, Dr. Deon Weyers definitely considers himself to be an unlikely feminist. “Women are at the heart of what we do at DW Skin & Body. We believe every woman deserves to be recognized and valued, to achieve their full potential, and to look and feel their best every day!”

Introducing DW Skin & Body’s new initiative – The Raise The Bra Project! The team is currently appealing to the public to donate their unwanted, pre-loved bras to be distributed to women in communities where underwear can be considered an unaffordable, luxury item. In addition to every bra that is donated, DW Skin 7 Body will also be donating sanitary products – “Period Poverty has no place in modern society, and we want to do what we can to address that, one woman at a time.”

How Did The “Raise The Bra” Project Come About?

With International Women’s Day around the corner, it’s a time to reflect on the progress made for women, to call for change, and to celebrate acts of courage and determination by ordinary women.  “We didn’t just want to post pretty pictures or quotes on social media, we wanted to do something to uplift women in our own community,” says Dr. Weyers. A number of the cosmetic and reconstructive procedures performed by Dr. Weyers are breast-related; whether breast augmentation, reduction or reconstruction. This made the team think about the bras that patients no longer require, and the “Raise The Bra” project was born.

Donations can be made at the collection point at Suite B22, Fourways Life Hospital before the 8th of March 2020.
