Celebrate the famous soft bun and filling meal with special offers

Must read

International Burger Day, celebrated on 28 May every year, is a global celebration of the iconic and versatile burger. It is dedicated to honouring the delicious combination of a juicy patty, fresh toppings, and a soft bun that has become a culinary staple around the world.

Claims to be the original inventor of the burger are as varied as the toppings and sauces, with one of the earliest from Charlie Nagreen, who in 1885 sold a meatball between two slices of bread at the Seymour Fair in Wisconsin, USA. Hamburger referred to the steak with which German immigrants were familiar, although there is no connection to the city of Hamburg.

Hamburgers are typically associated with fast-food restaurants and diners but are also sold at other restaurants, including high-end establishments. There are many international and regional variations of hamburgers.

At Time Square, one day is simply not enough for one of the best meals on the planet, so six of its restaurants will be offering specials throughout May.

•   Agrilla Meet & Cocktail Bar – Chicken burger combo R135, cheeseburger combo R145, smoky bacon cheeseburger combo R165. All include a draught, glass of wine, or soda

•    Appetite Restaurant – Enjoy a free glass of wine, cider, or local beer with your Appetite Burger for only R90. Rustic chips are included with all burgers

•    Forti Grill & Bar – Free Coke or 300ml Heineken with the wagyu burger

•    Jimmy– Two burgers for R88 (chicken or beef)

•    Moonshine – Free cheese, mushroom or pepper sauce with any burger

In Pulp Fiction’s famous scene early in the movie, Jules (Samuel L Jackson) declares: “Hamburgers! The cornerstone of any nutritious breakfast!” He’s not wrong, but with these specials you can eat burgers for lunch and dinner as well.
