Capegate’s Winter Edit: Thrift, Ice, and Everything Nice

Must read

Capegate Shopping Centre is the place to be this Winter. With the return of the ever-popular CG Thrift Fest Winter Edition, the launch of exciting new stores and a line-up of family-friendly holiday fun, our centre is set to turn chilly days into memorable moments.

CG Thrift Fest Winter Edition: The Hunt is On

From Friday, 27 June to Sunday, 29 June, Capegate invites treasure hunters and bargain seekers to explore our much-loved CG Thrift Fest. Taking over Checkers Court and flowing into Partners Court, the pop-up market brings together curated stalls packed with pre-loved, vintage and second-hand gems. From retro fashion to unique décor, it’s a budget-friendly experience full of charm and character.

“Our Thrift Fest brings people together,” says Zoë Enslin, Marketing Manager at Capegate Shopping Centre. “It’s a chance to connect, explore, and enjoy the simple pleasure of finding something unique; all while feeling part of a community that values creativity, affordability and character.”

With extended hours on Friday and Saturday (09h00 to 20h00) and a full day of trading on Sunday (09h00 to 17h00), CG Thrift Fest Winter Edition offers plenty of time to explore and find that perfect item your Winter wardrobe needs to level up.

Cool Days, Cooler Fun: The CG Ice Rink Returns

Capegate is embracing the chill in the air with the return of its popular CG Ice Rink, running daily from Friday, 27 June until Monday, 21 July under our Covered Parking at Entrance 6. This year, the rink is stepping up the excitement with a bold neon twist, lighting up the space and creating a playful, energetic atmosphere for families.

Perfect for kids aged 3 to 13 (and their brave parents), each 50-minute session offers a chance to glide, spin or simply laugh through the slip-ups. Open daily from 10h00 to 19h00 (closing earlier on Sundays), it’s a festive break from the indoors and a chance to embrace the season in a way only Capegate can deliver.

New at Capegate: Skechers Steps In

The latest addition to the Capegate retail mix is Skechers, now open and drawing in footwear fans of all ages. With everything from athletic trainers to everyday sneakers, the store’s expanded range caters to men, women and kids alike. Shoppers can now also browse the brand’s activewear range, ideal for anyone who likes to move, stretch or stay cosy with style.

“The new Skechers store adds even more variety to our fashion offering,” says Enslin. “It’s modern, energetic and family-friendly, very much in line with what Capegate stands for.”

More to Enjoy: Big “Skreen” Nostalgia

For moviegoers, Ster Kinekor’s Throwback Cinema brings classic favourites back to the big screen with regular retro screenings. They’re rolling out two classics… first up is Shrek on 27 June, perfect for a fun family outing. For those who prefer a darker thrill, Alfred Hitchcock’s original Psycho (1960) is also on the line-up. Tickets are just R50. It’s the perfect pick for an easy night out with a friend and a box of popcorn. These retro favourites are part of regular Throwbacks, so keep an eye on Capegate’s social media to see what’s on the big “skreen” next.

So, whether you’re on the lookout for hidden treasures, a place to let the kids burn off energy or simply a reason to leave the house, Capegate Shopping Centre is your Winter destination with something for everyone!
