Ghana Black Stars’ captain Asamoah Gyan is reported to have suffered an injury during a training session. As a result, Gyan is doubtful to feature in their opening match against Senegal in the upcoming African Cup of Nations, starting this Saturday (17th Jan 2015) in Equatorial Guinea.

Gyan is the latest injury worry for the Stars. Coach Avram Grant was forced to cancel their final friendly match against German club side Freiburg on Wednesday due to injury problems in their camp.

The medical staff are closely monitoring the situation to ensure that the players are in good physical condition before their clash with the Teranga Lions of Senegal on Monday (19th Jan 2015).

“With so few days before the start of the competition in Equatorial Guinea, Grant has decided to protect his players from likely injuries,” the Ghana Football Association said.
