DA parliamentary leader Mmusi Maimane brought up the motion but President Jacob Zuma predictably defeated by an ANC majority in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

A total of 221 voted against it, 113 were in favour, and eight abstained. Voting on the motion was although delayed after it was discovered that the electronic voting system was not working.
