South Africa is going bananas for “Banana” – The new online phenomenon

Two of the world’s biggest stars have joined forces to release what has become an online phenomenon. “Banana”, performed by Jamaican superstar Conkarah along with fellow Jamaican, multi-award-winning reggae icon Shaggy, has reached over 120 million video views on Tik Tok.

Originally released at the end of 2019, Conkarah’s world smash, ‘Banana’, has now been given the Minisiren remix treatment by DJ Fle. The remix is already going bananas has just hit #1 on TikTok sounds.

The track was released last week and has already had more than half a million streams on Spotify, while the original version is sitting over 3 million streams.

Conkarah has become a worldwide star with a YouTube channel boasting more than 234 million combined views and 628,000 subscribers. His reggae cover of Adele’s hit single ‘Hello’ with young Solomon Island recording artist Rosie Delmah currently has more than 100 million views on YouTube and was also the number one global viral streaming track on Spotify.

Shaggy has been #1 on charts around the world with singles including Mr Bombastic, Oh Caroline, It Wasn’t Me and Angel. He has been nominated for 7 Grammys, with 2 wins.
