Khanyi Mbau took to Instagram to warn the public of a “terrible” scam on Facebook that uses her name to sell skin care products.

Khanyi says she was notified of a “terrible scam” going around Facebook, asking women to buy their skin and facial products.

“Hey guys Ive just been notified of a terrible scam thats going on on Facebook. I do not sell any skin or facial products, especially on Facebook. Please don’t fall for this, don’t send your money to anyone. It is a scam, do not be gullible,” posted Mbau in a video clip on Instagram.

Khanyi is not the first celeb who’s identity was used to scam potential customers.

Last year former Miss SA Basetsana Kumalo took legal action against a weight loss programme that used her name without permission.

Gullible weight watchers fell victim to the false advert for a product called Garcinia Gambogia, claiming that the businesswoman lost 20 pounds (about 9kg) in a month using the product.

Kumalo said she felt violated after her image was used to promote the programme she didn’t endorse. Says she never heard of this product, nor have I ever used it. I am not part of its endorsement or promotion. This is a hoax and a scam to lure the public into buying this product.
