In the Spanish La Liga, Real Madrid crushed Levante 5 nil. Javier Hernandez, James Rodriguez and Isco all scored in the rout but it was Christiano Ronaldo as usual that grabbed all the headlines. The Portuguese goal machine netted a brace to seal his place in the history books by surpassing Oviedo’s Esteban Echevarria record and scoring 15 goals in 8 rounds. His Ballon d’or nemesis, Lionel Messi was also on the score sheet for Barcelona to move a goal shy of Telmo Zarra’s ground-breaking 251 goals that has not been beaten since 1955.

Messi’s fine display led league leaders Barcelona to a 3 nil victory at home over newly promoted side, Eibar. The other goals were scored by Spanish legend, Xavi Hernandez and Neymar. The result means that Barcelona remain four-points clear over Madrid ahead of their much anticipated El’classico clash.

In England:

Southampton smash 8 passed Sunderland

Football lovers in England were left in shock as Southampton scored five times in 27minutes against a collapsing Sunderland side. The embarrassing 8-0 score line for Sunderland is one of the biggest results in Premier League history. Southampton narrowly missed Manchester United’s record 9-0 win over Ipswich in 1995.

This is why we love the beautiful game!
