Gov Mark Dayton proclaimed May 23, 2016, as ‘Beyoncé Day’ because of the singer’s influence on ‘many young girls and women with powerful, positive messages in her songs’.

Governor Mark Dayton and Lieutenant Governor Tina Smith made it clear that May 23, 2016 can and should be dedicated to all things Queen Bey for 24 hours.

“Beyoncé has influenced many young girls and women with powerful, positive messages in her songs and thousands of Minnesotans will gather at TCF Bank Stadium to hear Beyoncé perform,” the proclamation wrote. “Now, therefore…I hearby proclaim Monday as Beyoncé day.”

The declaration recognized the 34-year-old Houston singer’s success in the music industry.
