Chris Brown’s attorney asked judge to block an order that would transfer Chris to Washington DC

[full]Chris Brown’s attorney has asked a judge to block an order that would transfer the jailed R&B singer to Washington, DC, for his upcoming misdemeanour assault trial.

Brown is being held without bail and is due to go on trial on 17 April in Washington on the assault charge.

Last week, a judge in Washington authorised US marshals to transport Brown from Los Angeles for the trial.

The Grammy-winning singer’s lawyer Mark Geragos filed a motion on Tuesday asking a judge to block that order and instead release Brown to his custody just before the trial date.

His motion states that Brown would lose the ability to confer with Geragos and prepare for the trial if he is transferred by marshals.

A hearing has been scheduled for Thursday on the motion.

Brown and his bodyguard were arrested in Washington in October. Both are accused of punching a man.

At the time Brown was arrested, he was on probation in California for a 2009 attack on singer Rihanna, his then-girlfriend.

After his arrest in Washington, a California judge ordered Brown to receive anger management and other treatment. That judge jailed Brown earlier this month after he was dismissed from the treatment facility.[/full]
