Amber Amour, a social activist, took to her Instagram account with more than 30,000 followers, to described her horrifying rape experience in Cape Town during her visit six weeks ago. She claims she was raped by an acquaintance while they shared a shower.

Amour said she reported the alleged rape to the police, the alleged rapist was arrested but was out on R1 000 bail. Amour said her blog was her way of ensuring that justice was served, while at the same time practising what she preached.

On her account, she wrote, “I tell you guys to speak up every single day and I know that I need to practice what I preach. It is so incredibly hard, though, but having you all here for me makes all the difference. I know that this may not go anywhere and I know that I may face ridicule by the police but I will take a shot at “justice” anyway,” she said.
