AKA makes BBC 1XTRA ‘Hot For 2016’ list

Rapper AKA has been named one of BBC Radio 1Xtra Hot For 2016 artists.

The UK radio show featured the Baddest rapper on its #HotFor2016 list. 1Xtra DJs and staff selected 15 international acts to watch in 2016 and AKA is the first and only South African musician who has made the list in 8 years.

For 8 years, BBC 1Xtra Radio has been successful in predicting artists ‘that have gone on to greater success’.

From the likes of Drake, Tinie Tempah, Sam Smith and more

AKA to took Instagram to express his excitement: “This [is] a huge honor for me as there are so many big stars today who have cracked this nod before they blew up on the world stage. I have always been about taking my music and my country to a new level and this is only the beginning. Thank you,” he said following the news,”

AKA’s hit song Baddest is currently playlisting on BBC 1XTRA making it his second song to make it to BBC radio after All Eyes On Me.

Baddest was also recently nominated in the Best Single and Best Collaborations categories for the Metro FM Awards.
