WHY SOUTH AFRICA NEEDS A SERVICE LIKE 911

Integrated Emergency Response (iER) is revolutionising community safety and saving lives with its free to use iER app launched in 2016.

The iER app is your go-to, free emergency response companion, ready for download on Android, iOS, or HarmonyOS smartphones. It keeps you connected to emergency services around the clock, 24/7 – day and night. All you need is your mobile internet and location services activated, and you’re set to send out alerts for quick emergency assistance. iER is ideal for use by everyone in medical emergencies, police emergencies and any other life-threatening situations.

Whether it’s a medical scare, a need for police intervention, or any other urgent situation, the iER app is designed to be there for everyone, offering peace of mind when you need it most.

“Sadly, South Africa’s 10111 emergency call centre is facing turmoil as crime rates in our country escalate,” says iER manager Monique Delport.

“Life is full of surprises, and when it comes to emergencies, reliable response systems are crucial. That’s where iER steps in, consolidating various emergency response services into a single, efficient call center, ready to assist you when you need it the most.”

What is iER?

iER stands as a robust emergency response and disaster management network, designed to cater to the urgent needs of South Africans. This national network ensures you’re connected to a centralised 24-hour call centre, ready to dispatch emergency services immediately.

The iER mobile app offers immediate notifications, connecting users directly to our iER call centre to ensure swift response. Upon receiving your alert, iER confirms it within 10 seconds and reaches out to members who have issued an alert within 30 seconds. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our 98% success rate in adhering to our Service Level Agreement (SLA), based on our rapid response times.

Users can easily navigate the app to select the type of emergency and provide additional details if needed. The call centre receives the alert along with the user’s precise location, ensuring a timely and accurate response.

The iER app seeks comprehensive user information to provide efficient assistance. To function fully, it requires access to your device’s phone, camera, location and microphone. These permissions enable the app to send photo alerts, access emergency contacts and pinpoint your location.

User information is strictly used by the iER call centre when an alert is triggered, ensuring privacy and security. Pertinent data is then shared only with relevant emergency personnel to provide swift assistance.

The iER app is designed to never miss a call, promising immediate assistance when alerts are sent through the app. While the app is free to download and use, iER also offers a paid membership with additional benefits, including insurance coverage.

“The app seamlessly integrates with local emergency service providers. Whether it’s a medical emergency, a security threat, or the need for roadside assistance, iER is designed to connect users with just the touch of a button,” adds Delport.

The iER app is available for download on both iOS and Android platforms. Users can create profiles for themselves and their loved ones, enabling quick access to personal medical information and emergency contacts when needed.
